Today, lecturer Yap give the lesson about the title Communication Theory, Verbal & Non-verbal Communication and Theory of Signs, Introduction of Gestalt Theory.

Communication is the activity of conveying information through the exchange of thoughts, messages, or information, as by speech, visuals, signals, writing, or behavior.

Verbal communication is one way for people to communicate face-to-face.  Some of the key components of verbal communication are sound, words, speaking, and language.

Non-verbal communication describes the process of conveying meaning in the form of non-word messages.

Theory of signs or semiotics including  semiology, is the study of signs and sign processes, indication, designation, likeness, analogy, metaphor, symbolism, signification, and communication.

The Gestalt Theory is a psychology term which means "unified whole".
There are a lot of principles that about the Gestalt Theory....

1. Similarity = the object look similar

2.  Continuation = the eye is compelled to move through one object and continue to another object.

3. Closure = when an object is incomplete or a space is not completely enclosed. If enough of the shape is indicated, people perceive the whole by filling in the missing information.

4. Proximity =  when elements are placed close together. They tend to be perceived as a group.

5. Figure = clearly perceived as figure with the surrounding white space ground.
